H. Pete MerkelManaging Partner | iNertia Energy Advisors
Pete is the co-founder & managing partner of iNertia Energy Advisors since its inception in the fall of 2012. Pete has a proven ability to foster relationships with C-Suite & Senior executives across a wide spectrum of industries.

Pete believes that long standing relationships were the core of building his boutique motorsports business and the same applies to delivering results with iNertia Energy Advisors as well.

Pete began his career in Sales at Michigan International Speedway where he spent 10+ years and eventually delivered Corporate Sponsorship Sales exceeding $10M for the largest sporting event in the state of Michigan.  Pete continued his career as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Chicago Motor Speedway (2000-2003) and Director of Business Development at Dale Earnhardt Inc. where Pete managed $60M in Sponsorship Sales from 2004-2006.

After a stint working with Co-Pilot in Charlotte, NC from 2006-2009 Pete founded iNERTiA Sports where he continues to manage sponsorship relationships for Sherwin Williams, MENARDS, Technique and Elite Motorsports.

As a managing partner at iNertia Energy Advisors, Pete is responsible for fostering new relationships to grow the business and renew current business.  Pete maintains an excellent relationship with best in class suppliers and customers alike.

Pete resides in Mooresville, NC with his wife Cindy and two children Kyndall and Grant.  In his spare time he enjoys Golf, Skiing and Mountain Biking.

Eric Hutchins

Eric is a partner of iNertia Energy Advisors. Eric has over 6 years of direct supplier experience in energy, with proven relationships across a wide spectrum of Commercial & industrial Businesses.

Eric believes that education and strong relationship skills have allowed for success throughout his career, and the same applies to delivering results with iNertia Energy Advisors.

Eric began his career in Sales at Ford Consumer Finance where he spent 8+ years and eventually ran one of the most profitable units Michigan and Illinois.  Eric continued his career as the Regional Sales Manager of Barclays Capital (2002-2010) where Eric grew to $400M in Sales.

After his success in the financial services industry, Eric took his skills to the energy industry, building strong relationships and eventually being tasked with opening the Illinois market with a new energy supplier.

As a partner at iNertia Energy Advisors, Eric is responsible for fostering new relationships to grow the business and renew current business.  Eric maintains an excellent relationship with best in class suppliers and customers alike.

Eric resides in Western Springs, IL with his son Ashton.  In his spare time he enjoys Exercising, Skiing and Mountain Biking.
